WWE NXT featured fallout from NXT TakeOver Stand and Deliver and a great moment between new champions Rhea Ripley (Raw), Bianca Belair (SmackDown) and Raquel Gonzalez (NXT).
NXT advertised an appearance by Karrion Kross, an open challenge from Santos Escobar, MSK vs. Killian Dain and Drake Maverick for the NXT Tag Team Championships, Franky Monet’s debut and The Way in action.
Last week’s final broadcast of WWE NXT, the final broadcast of the Wednesday Night Wars, garnered 768,000 viewers, topping AEW Dynamite’s 688,000 viewers.

WWE NXT Results—Tuesday, April 13, 2021
Opening Segment with Karrion Kross
Karrion Kross cut a decent promo, but I’d rather have Scarlett speaking on his behalf, and even when she does it should be kept short. This act thrives when it’s about mystique first and wrestling second.
MORE FOR YOU
On one hand, I’m surprised nobody interrupted Kross to challenge him, but on the other hand, it does make him look more like a tough guy if wrestlers are hesitant to step up.
MSK def. Drake Maverick and Killian Dain
This was a very good match with no storyline, and no reason to believe Killian Dain and Drake Maverick would win, so it was difficult to get invested.
IMPERIUM attacked Killian Dain after this match, and if WWE is building toward WALTER and Dain, they have a lot of work to do to make Dain a credible opponent for the two-year NXT UK champion.
Mercedes Martinez def. Jessi Kamea
Robert Stone’s gloves were a whole mood.
I love Mercedes Martinez as a goon who shakes people down for money.
WWE is already building up challengers for its women’s division as Mercedes Martinez was just one of many NXT stars who called out Raquel Gonzalez tonight. That’s what makes the NXT women’s division arguably the best division in wrestling.
Kushida def. Santos Escobar—WWE NXT Cruiserweight Championship
This match was perfect. It played like a sports game where the underdog keeps hanging around and hanging around until finally scoring a late touchdown to steal the win. This game played like the Miracle in Miami, Week 14.
Franky Monet Debut, WWE NXT Reunion
Franky Monet’s theme music is better than most in NXT and that’s a high bar.
Seeing Franky Monet (formerly Taya Valkyrie) already positioned as a top contender to Raquel Gonzalez tells me she might be getting the LA Knight treatment where a big name from IMPACT is beaten early.
The NXT commentators didn’t bother translating what La Wera Loca translates to, which is “Crazy White Girl.”
Monet showed commitment to this character by bringing her dog to the ring with her for the promo. I wonder if the dog will be curbed for her matches.
The WWE NXT reunion that followed Franky Monet’s debut felt more like Raw After WrestleMania than anything I saw last night.
Isiah Swerve Scott def. Leon Ruff
Isiah Swerve Scott, much like Santos Escobar earlier, was a great trash-talker in this match.
WWE has booked Leon Ruff just well enough to where every one of his matches seem like it could end in an upset.
Swerve Scott kicked out of one of the nearest nearfalls you’ll ever see.
Ember Moon, Shotzi Blackheart, Dexter Lumis and Bronson Reed def. The Way
Johnny Gargano referred to The Way as the greatest intergender stable in history, which was a hilariously specific category.
Dexter Lumis refused to tag in. Instead, he solemnly waited to be tagged in.
The story of this match was The Way keeping Indi Hartwell away from Dexter Lumis.
After once again flirting with death during her last dive, Shotzi Blackheart begged Bronson Reed to throw her over the top rope. Thankfully, she landed safely.
Why is Dexter Lumis only interested in Indi Hartwell when she plays dead?
